Shortwave Log

Shortwave Log provides logging, radio control, recording, and scheduling functionality in a single suite. Shortwave Log has a long history in that it is the oldest shortwave logging program in existence, having been created in 1989. SWLog started as an MS-DOS program and was distributed over FIDOnet and BBS. Today SWLog is highly integreated with the web and databases.

Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) is a suite of free Windows programs providing computer control for commonly used transceivers and receivers. HRD also includes mapping, satellite tracking and the digital mode program Digital Master 780 (DM780).

HRD is free for Radio Amateurs, Shortwave Listeners (SWLs) and charitable organisations.

The list of features is too long for our page. The software is full of nice stuff and when you start using it, take some time to discover it all.

The suggested minimum computer specification is:
- HRD: 500MHz CPU, 512MB RAM and 20MB of disk storage.
- DM780: 1GHz CPU, 1024MB RAM and 50MB storage (or more if using SSTV). DM780 uses more resources than HRD when decoding many signals simultaneously.

LINRAD

Linrad is a computer program that can be run under Linux as well as under Microsoft Windows and Free BSD on a PC compatible computer. Linrad is available as source code with a Makefile that allows the generation of an executable with a single command both under Linux and under Windows. Linrad can operate with any soundcard for which the operating system on the PC has drive routines. A conventional radio receiver or a direct conversion radio is then used to bring some part of the RF spectrum to audio frequencies. Linrad can also be used with the SDR-14 and the SDR-IQ from Rfspace as well as with the Perseus HF Receiver from Microtelecom s.r.l.
